Caterpillar plough systems can produce as much as 3500tpa.

The contract is the 11th plough system from the DBT/Bucyrus/Caterpillar stable to be sold into Chinese mines. It will be delivered to the Xinyan mine, in Shanxi province, in the first quarter of 2013.

A Caterpillar GH800 plough will be paired with a Caterpillar armoured face conveyor using PF3 line pans, and the Caterpillar PMC-R roof support control system will manage roof support advance.

The system will mine a metallurgical coal seam with a height of 1.0 to 1.2 meters (39 to 47 inches), and the face length will be 240 meters (787 feet).

Tiefa Coal Mining Group, with a 50% share in the joint venture project with Dongyi, owns four of these systems.  According to Caterpillar, Tiefa said the plough systems enable them to profitably mine thin seam reserves that would be otherwise uneconomic.
