A Sharebuyer’s Guide To Investing In The Australian Mining Boomis a 500-page bookby experienced mining executive and academic Dr Allan Trench.
The volume is designed to help investors evaluate which stocks in the mining sector have the best chance of outperforming the market.
It starts by looking at exploration, then at project development and individual mining companies, before moving on to the concept of risk, commodity pricing and other financial considerations.
More pointedly, Allan profiles 40 ASX-listed exploration and mining companies, and despite stellar returns averaging 118% in 2010, concludes in several instances that there are still spectacular share price gains around the corner.
Allan Trench is non-executive chairman of ASX-listed Navigator Resources and a non-executive director of Venturex Resources, Pioneer Resources and Hot Chili. He holds a Doctorate in Geophysics, a Masters Degree in Mineral Economics and an MBA.
He is adjunct professor at the Western Australian School of Mines, a regular speaker at international conferences on the outlook for the mineral resources sector, and an associate consultant with CRU Group.
The book is published by Major Street Publishing.
