Wormald adds to Life Safety & Rescue range
Wormald is offering GCE Sabre Medical’s Manual & Automatic Resuscitation System (MARS) as part of its safety equipment portfolio and is the exclusive GCE trained service provider in Australia and New Zealand for the system.
Particularly suitable for the emergency services, mining, oil and gas, and marine industries, the Sabre MARS offers both manual and automatic resuscitation modes and is based around two central components – the control module and the patient valve. The gas supply is passed through the automatic channel and delivered to the patient as a specific breathing programme, according to the chosen flow rate.
If the patient takes a spontaneous breath while in automatic mode, then the gas is delivered from the supply side of the module and the automatic breathing programme shuts down. However, if the patient stops breathing, the module automatically senses this and resumes volume cycled resuscitation within four to six seconds. Oxygen therapy can be simultaneously selected from up to 11 different oxygen therapy flow rates depending on the patient’s medical situation.
Should the patient’s airway become blocked or over-pressurised, an audible alarm set at 45cm H2O will sound and excess or unwanted gas is released. A manual override trigger is fitted to the patient valve to allow initial lung saturation and manual resuscitation when the module is in CPR mode.
With the demand valve delivering 100 per cent oxygen, the system is ideal for use in irrespirable atmospheres, such as underground mines. An optional oxygen cylinder connector with either a 2-pin index or DIN thread provides added versatility, allowing it to be attached to a range of different cylinders.
The MARS is available in two basic configurations – MARS Industrial with Child and MARS Mining, with a large adult auto setting. Both variants provide users with a number of different options.
