Expanding the Liebherr excavator & shovel range
With the launch of the mining excavator R 9250 at BAUMA 2007 and the presentation of the first shovel version at Minexpo 2008, Liebherr is making this model available as well with an electric drive unit.
With partly significant fuel price increases during the last years, many mining operations have become aware to investigate alternative energy sources. Additionally, electrically driven hydraulic shovels and excavators require significantly less maintenance and service support.
Liebherr engineers have drawn upon many years of experience gained from the deployment of the company's electrical excavators throughout the world. In particular, the experience of Liebherr’s R 9350 Electric has been applied in the development of the R 9250 E.
The R 9250 is supplying a motor output of nominal 1,050 kW (nominal excavator power of 1,100 kW) in 6,000 Volts and 50 Hertz networks. The AC squirrel cage motor with the long motor lifetimes requires only minimal maintenance tasks which contribute to significant larger uptime and machine utilisation.
Furthermore mines with access to low cost electrical supply can benefit from lower operating costs in comparison to Diesel powered units. The electrical motor is started by a starting transformer. All electrical installations are protected on IP 55 EN 60529 Standard. The electrical compartments are sealed and secured to withstand the though mining applications.
The standard version of the electrical version of this large excavator is equipped in backhoe configuration with a 9 metre gooseneck boom and a 4 metre stick. In face shovel con-figuration the machine is equipped with a 6.3 metre swing boom and a 4.2 metre shovel stick. In both configurations the machine has a nominal bucket capacity of 15 m³. The bucket capacities are adaptable depending on the material properties and mine site requirements.
Only three bucket loads are required to load an 80-tonne dump truck, or four to five bucket loads for a 120-tonne dump truck.
The first units have now been delivered to Russia and have commenced operation. Additionally Liebherr is manufacturing the first Marine P 9250 Electric excavators.
The new 250-tonne mining excavator from Liebherr has set new standards in terms of productivity and reliability worldwide.
