Critical cable hose and reels for Dalrymple Bay
At the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal (DBCT), huge stockpiles of coal are constantly being loaded and unloaded to fill ships with the valuable commodity, a task performed by large and complex stacker reclaimers.
These machines have significant and complex demands for 3 phase power, fibre optic transmitted control and water for dust suppression. This demand for water, power and control must be satisfied without fail, over the full 1.1 km travel of the stacker/reclaimers. The critical task of facilitating this power, control and water supply is performed by drum cable and hose reels supplied by Conductix-Wampfler.
Over recent years, significant expansion has occurred at DBCT, with many of the required stacker/reclaimers designed and manufactured by Sandvik Mining and Construction Australia. Sandvik relied on Conductix-Wampfler cable and hose reels to achieve its goals.
The supplied Conductix-Wampfler cable and hose reels, which were designed and manufactured in Australia, included customer-required custom-designed features, such as VVVF drives with integral safety clutch, enhanced stainless steel components and high quality paint protection. The Conductix-Wampfler supplied cable and hose reels also featured some unique Conductix-Wampfler features, such as a composite HV/LV/fibre optic slip ring designed for high reliability and safety, and highly durable hose with vulcanised joints only every 120m.
Conductix-Wampfler continues to supply DBCT with its high quality range of cable/hose reels, festoon systems, conductor bar, cable chains, flexible cable and hose and other related products.
