Gordon New

New, whose company is an Australian manufacturer of highly specialised gears for the aeronautical, defence, medical, mining, rail and transport industries, has been an active member of AGMA for 15 years.
New’s long standing involvement and contribution to AGMA has been recognised with his appointment to join the voluntary Board, alongside Ivan Brems, CEO of Belgium-based Hansen Transmission International, as representatives of the Association’s International membership.
The AGMA is an active organisation with approximately 400 members in more than 30 countries. It is principally involved in developing voluntary standards for the gear industry, running training programs, government relations programs, collecting and distributing statistical and technical information.
The organisation also runs management programs in Small Business, Marketing and Statistics, as well as conducting its own exhibition, Gear Expo, every other year in the United States.
The AGMA is represented in international organisations, such as the ISO and Eurotrans, to promote an international understanding of the concerns of the gear industry, and acts as Secretariat of the ISO TC60 committee of gear standards development.
New says his involvement in the AGMA has been enjoyable and beneficial personally and to his company and looks forward to the opportunity to contribute further to the organisation. He invites any company or individual with an interest in gears or power transmission to acquaint themselves of the benefits of AGMA membership.
