Auto oil maintenance for equipment

South Australia’s Warrin Mining and Construction Equipment doesn’t take any chances when it comes to protecting its equipment under contract.

As the SA dealer for Volvo equipment, the company supplies vehicles often deployed in high use applications.
Managing director Adam Wallis said, “Regular checking of oil level and topping up where necessary is important for engines, particularly when the equipment is used regularly for extended periods. If oil levels are not carefully monitored, there is risk of premature engine wear which means unnecessary maintenance costs and the possibility of voiding the warranty.”
“About three years ago we fitted a Groeneveld Oilmaster system to a Volvo L90E loader under contract to Visy Recycling. The terms of the contract require us to maintain the equipment. The Oilmaster ensures that correct oil levels are maintained, without the need manually to top up engine oil between services.”
Oilmaster monitors the oil level when the ignition is switched on and automatically adds oil when necessary. The system pumps a small quantity of oil from the integrated reservoir to the engine sump. Because of the monitoring frequency and the addition of oil when required, the engine can always run at the perfect oil level - usually much lower than the maximum level mark on the dipstick.
“The system has worked so well, we have also fitted an Oilmaster to a new Volvo L90F loader to reduce the risk of major repairs or downtime. The system has performed faultlessly and given us the peace of mind that the equipment is always working at optimum lubrication levels” Wallis said.
Warrin Mining also uses Groeneveld Twin Automatic maintenance systems on its equipment to ensure grease is automatically maintained to minimise wear on critical parts.
