When valve bank space is pushed to a squeeze

by Australian Journal of Mining created Apr 09, 2009 08:22 AM

A new dual pneumatic valve designed for space-poor machinery and process control environments has been released by Bürkert. The Type 6524 Dual 3/2 way pneumatic valve combines the functionality of two complete 3/2 way valves in the space of one.

Effectively halving the size of an assembled valve bank, the Type 6524 pneumatic valve may be used in stand-alone or assembled valve bank configuration. It was designed for OEM manufacturers seeking to minimise space allocation and highly automated processing operations with large valve banks.
The highly compact pneumatic valve is just 10 millimetres wide and has very low power consumption. Equipped with manual override as a standard feature, the valve is engineered with flipper technology to allow high pressure switching at a rate of 1,000 cycles per minute.
A valve bank assembled with the Type 6524 Dual 3/2 pneumatic valve is almost half the size of a comparable valve bank, which in turn has significant impact on the panel cabinet required and total space utilised.
For a recent project, Brkert engineers were able to reduce the valve bank length from 479mm to 270mm by using the new Type 6524 Dual 3/2 pneumatic valve. This cost-neutral option allowed the valve bank to be mounted in a 300mm2 cabinet rather than a 600mm2 stainless steel cabinet, delivering 75 per cent space saving and approximately 50 per cent in cabinet costs.
Brkert has successfully installed Type 6524 Dual 3/2 valve banks at mineral processing plants as well as indoor processing centres where space is at a premium including dairies and pharmaceutical facilities. OEM skids have also benefited from Type 6524 Dual 3/2 valve banks, including small industrial water treatment skids and packaging machines.
